Nucleic Acid BIomolecules storing and transmitting genetic information. Monomer - Nucleotide
Nucleotide The building blocks of nucleic acids, containing genetic information
Chromosome DNA structures that carry genetic information in living cells
Gene A segment of DNA that codes for the creation of proteins
RNA Primer A short strand that initiates DNA replication
Okazaki Fragments Short DNA segments that are formed on lagging strands
Differentation The process where stem cells become specialized for specific functions
Stem Cells Unspecialized cells that can develop into many other different cell types
Gastrula A embryonic stage where three germ layers begin to form
Organogenesis The process during embryonic development where organs begin to form
Cell Cycle A series of stages cells go through to divide and reproduce
Sister Chromatids Identical DNA copies that are joined together during cell division
Centromere The chromosome region where sister chromatids are tightly connected
Chromatin DNA and protein complexes that packages genetic material inside the nucleus
Telomere Protective DNA sequences at chromosome ends, preventing genetic loss
Cancer Uncontrolled cell growth caused by genetic mutations, disrupting normal functions
Metastasize When cancer cells spread from the original tumor to other body parts
Carcinogens Substances that cause genetic mutations leading to cancer development
Malignant Cancerous tumors that grow aggressively and can spread to other cells
