QuestionAnswer
In what order are the levels of organization? (from simple to most complex) Chemical level, Organelle level, cellular level, tissue level, organ level, system level, organism level
What are feedback loops? Processes where the output system is fed back into the system as input, this influences future outputs and behaviors
What are hydrogen bonds? A type of chemical bond that occurs when a hydrogen atom is covalently bonded to a highly electronegative atom
What is passive transport? The movement of ions and molecules across the cell membrane without the use of energy
What produces the color in your skin? Melanin
What are flat bones? Thin, flattened bones that provide protection for internal organs and work as the attachment points for muscles.
What is tonic contraction? Continual, partial contraction in a muscle organ
What is an example of a first-class lever? The fulcrum is an example, the head being raised or tipped backwards on the atlas
What two bodies are included in the dorsal body cavities? The Cranial cavity which holds the brain, and the spinal cavity which holds the spinal cord
What is extrinsic control? Extrinsic means "outside" control and operates the system and organ levels. This is normally nervous and endocrine regulation
