Alveolar Mucosa mucosa between the mucobuccal fold and gingiva.
Ankyloglossia also known as tongue -tie
Coronoid process Bony projection at the upper anterior ramus of the mandible; point of attachment for the temporal muscle.
cortical plate Dense bone on the buccal and lingual surfaces of the alveolar bone.
Diastema any spacing between teeth in the same arch.
Exostoses spall extra growths of bone on a bone surface ; usually seen on the buccal cortical plate.
Fauces space between the left and right palatione tonsisls
Fordcee granules misplaces sebaceous glands in the lip, cheek, or retromolar pad area.
Frenum fold of tissue. also called frenulum,
Fovea palatinae small depression in mucosa on eithers side of the posterior nasel spine, indication the junction of the hard and soft palate.
gingigva part of the gum tissues that immediately surrounds that teeth and alveolar bone
incisive foramen foramen at the midline of the anterior palate region
incisive papilla small, rounded, oblong mound of tissue directly behind or lingual to the maxillary central incisors and lying over the incisive foramen
labial frenum fold of tissue that attaches the lip to the labial mucosa at the midline of the lip
laryngeal pharynx that part of the common pathway of the respiratory and digestive systems from the base of the tongue to the opening of the larynx
Levator veli palatini muscle of the soft palate that helps pull it back against the throat wall
Lingual frenum fold of tissue that attaches the undersurface of the tongue to the floor of the mouth.
lingual tonsils tonsil tissue on the dorsum of the posterior part of the tongue
Mucobuccal fold the point at which the mucosa of the lips or cheek turns to go toward the gingival or hum tissue also called mucolabial fold.
nasal pharynx that part of the nasal region form the posterior end of nasal septum down to the level of the soft palate
oral cavity proper that area of the oral cavity bounded anteriorly and laterally by thr teeth and 0osteriorly by the posterpy by the palatine tinsil
oral pharrnxy the area behind the oral cavity that runs from the palatine tonsils to
palatine tonsils normally just called tonsils: found at the side of the throat opposite the back of the tongue.
palatopharyngeal arch or fold fold of tissue behind the tonsils that contain the palatopharyngeus muscle, Also called posterior pillar
philtrum small depression at the midline of the upper lip
pillars folds of tissue appearing in front of and behind of the palatine tonsils
posterior nasal spine painted bony projection at the posterior end of the hard palate
posterior pillars folds of tissue behind the tonsils that contain the palatipharyngues muscle. also called palatopharyngeal arch or fold
Retromolar pad small elevation of tissue just posterior to the mandibular third molar
Rugau small ridge of tissue extending laterally across the anterior of the hard palate.
sebaceous glands small oil- producing glands that are usually connected to hairs to lubricate them.
sublingual caruncle small elevation of soft tissue at the base of the lingual frenum that is opening for the submandubular duct.
sublingual fold fold of tissue extending backward on either side of the floor of the mouth; duct of the submandibular gland lies below it.
Tonsillar pillars the vertical folds of tissue that he lie in front of and behind the palatine tonsils in the lateral throat wall.
torus mandibibularis bony outgrowth located on the lingual side of the mandible; also know as mandibular tori
torus palatinus bony growth in the hard palate
uvula small hanging fold of tissue in back of the soft palate
vermillion zone red part of the tissue in back of the soft palate.
vestibule space between the lips or cheeks and the teeth
zygomaticoalveolar crest heavy ridge of maxillary and zygomatic bone that forms a heavy supporting ridge running up from the alveolar process of the maxillary premolar-molar region.
