Male Repro. System

TermDefinition
Testes Two egg shaped structures that are located on the outside of the male body. These organs produce sperm and the male sex hormone: testosterone.
Scrotum This pocket of skin hangs under the penis and holds the testes and epididymus. It keeps the sperm cool.
Secondary male sex characteristics Deep voice, growth of body hair, bigger muscles. Started by the hormone testosterone
Sperm the male sex cell
Gamete the scientific name for sex cell
Epididymus The coiled tube where sperm is stored. From here, sperm are transported to the Vas Deferens.
Vas Deferens This thin muscular tube that transports the sperm from the epididymus to the urethra.
Penis the male reproductive organ. It delivers sperm through the urethra.
Semen the combination of fluid and sperm.
Bladdar This organ is the muscular sac that stores urine
Prostate Gland This walnut sized gland surroundsa portion of the urethra and produces some of the fluid in semen
Urethra This is the tube that carries semen and urine out the penis
Testosterone This is the hormone that causes males to develop a deep voice, bigger muscles, facial hair, and also stimulates the production of sperm.
