TermDefinition
Building permit: the written authorization from a government agency to construct a building on a specific piece of land.
Egress a safe exit from a building.
Accessibility: the ability for people with a wide range of disabilities to be able to fully use things such as entryways and reaching for things as needed.
Adaptability the ability to change an interior to meet accessibility needs without inconvenience or excessive costs.
Aging-in-place: the concept of allowing older adults to remain independent and live comfortably in their own homes regardless of age, ability, or income
Disability a limitation that interferes with a person’s ability to carry out activities of daily living.
Mobility limitations: condition that makes it difficult for a person to walk from one place to another.
