*a*biotic *non-living* factors in an ecosystem (examples: wind, temperature, sunlight, air pressure, humidity, salinity)
biome definition a very large region with a characteristic climate as well as types of plants and animals. A large group of similar ecosystems.
2 *biotic* factors that define a biome flora and fauna (plants and animals)
2 *abiotic* factors that define a biome temperature and precipitation
Tundra *climate* short summers (growing seasons), and extremely cold winters very little precipitation permanently frozen soil ("permafrost")
Tundra *wildlife* ,small shrubs, arctic foxes, arctic hares, reindeer, polar bears
Taiga *climate* mild summers; very cold, snowy winter small to moderate amounts of precipitation
Taiga *wildlife* evergreen trees, caribou, elk, moose, lynx, wolverines
Grasslands *climate* cold winters, warm summers, mild spring and fall; small to moderate precipitation
Grasslands *wildlife* grasses, small shrubs, bison, prairie dogs, wolves, falcons, foxes

Deciduous Forest *wildlife* hardwood trees (oak, maple, walnut), deer, squirrels, owls, bears, hawks, foxes, raccoons
Desert *climate* very hot summer days with cold nights, very small amount (less than 25 cm) of precipitation yearly
Desert *wildlife* cacti, small shrubs, snakes, burrowing animals (kangaroo rats, squirrels, coyotes)
Tropical Rainforest *climate* hot and humid all year; no seasons, heavy precipitation
Tropical Rainforest *wildlife* birds, monkeys, jaguars, sloths, frogs, iguanas, ferns, rubber trees, orchids
Savanna *climate* climate*,warm all year; wet and dry seasons, small-moderate amount of precipitation
Savanna *wildlife* grasses, very few trees; zebras, gazelle, lions, elephants
Marine biome High salinity, life includes sharks, stingrays, coral, kelp and seaweed.
Freshwater Biome Low salinity includes *lakes, ponds,* and *rivers.* Life includes salmon, crayfish, otters, beavers.
