ATAL Córas Sláinte

Buanna agus lochtanna a bhaineann leis an gcóras sláinte

QuestionAnswer
It is certain that there are advantages and disadvantages to the health system in Ireland. Is cinnte go bhfuil buanna agus lochtanna ag baint leis an gcóras sláinte in Éirinn.
Firstly, let’s look at the advantages of the system. Ar dtús, féachaimis ar na buntáistí a bhaineann leis an gcóras.
We have a high standard of doctors and nurses in this country. High points are required to study medicine. Tá caighdeán ard dochtúirí agus altraí againn sa tír seo. Tá pointí arda ag teastáil chun dul le leigheas.
Doctors, nurses, and other health workers do their utmost to care for the patients under their care. Déanann dochtúirí, altraí agus oibrithe sláinte eile nach iad a seacht ndícheall chun freastal ar na hothair atá faoina gcúram.
Health experts have made great progress in treating diseases like cancer. Tá dul chun cinn iontach déanta ag saineolaithe sláinte chun cóir leighis níos fearr a chur ar ghalair cosúil le hailse.
That said, I have to say that many aspects of the health system are not commendable. É sin ráite, caithfidh mé a rá nach bhfuil go leor gnéithe den chóras sláinte thar mholadh beirte.
The system needs investment. Tá infheistíocht ag teastáil ón gcóras.
The conditions of the hospitals are shameful. Is ábhar náire é coinníollacha na n-ospidéal.
Day after day, terrible stories are heard about patients on trolleys in hospitals, crying out loudly in pain. Lá i ndiaidh lae, cloistear scéalta uafásacha faoi othair ar thrálaithe sna hospidéil, iad ag éagaoin go hard le pian.
The accident and emergency departments are overflowing with sick people. Tá na rannóga timpistí agus éigeandála ag cur thar maoil le daoine breoite.
Little improvement has been made to some hospitals for many years. Is beag feabhais atá tagtha ar roinnt ospidéil leis na blianta fada.
It is certain that generations of politicians have neglected the health system of this country. Is cinnte go bhfuil faillí déanta ag na glúinte polaiteoirí ar chóras sláinte na tíre seo.
Patients do not get fair treatment because there are long waiting lists for medical care, especially in the public system. Ní fhaigheann othair cothrom na Féinne mar tá liostaí feithimh fada do chóir leighis, go háirithe sa chóras poiblí.
There is a real crisis regarding the medical care that children receive. Tá cruachás ceart ann maidir leis an gcóir leighis a fhaigheann páistí.
The new children's hospital is still only half-finished after billions of euros have been spent on it. Níl ospidéal nua na leanaí ach leathchríochnaithe fós tar éis na billiún euro a bheith caite air.
It is not right that patients should wait for years for important operations. Níl sé ceart go mbeadh othair ag fanacht ar feadh na mblianta i gcomhair obráidí tábhachtacha.
There is too much emphasis on administrative matters in the Health Service Executive. Tá róbhéim ar chúrsaí riaracháin i bhFeidhmeannach na Seibhísí Sláinte.
Many young doctors and nurses are leaving this country because working conditions are much better abroad. Tá go leor dochtúirí agus altraí óga ag fágáil na tíre seo mar tá na coinníollacha oibre i bhfad níos fearr thar lear.
The population of this country has grown incredibly in recent years. Tá fás dochreidte tagtha ar dhaonra na tíre seo le blianta beaga anuas.
As life expectancy increases, there is more demand for health services. De réir mar a thagann méadú ar ionchas saoil, bíonn níos mó éilimh ar seirbhísí sláinte.
There is not enough support for family doctors and there is a recruitment crisis in this sector. Nil go leor tacaíochta ann do dhochtúirí teaghlaigh agus tá cruachás earcaíochta san earnáil seo.
