Córas Oideachais

Buntáistí agus míbhuntáistí an chórais

QuestionAnswer
Clearly, there are advantages and disadvantages to the education system in Ireland. Is cinnte go bhfuil buanna agus lochtanna ag baint leis an gcóras oideachais in Éirinn.
Firstly, let’s look at the advantages to the system. Ar dtús, féachaimis ar na buntáistí a bhaineann leis an gcóras.
The exam system in this country is transparent and fair. Tá an córas scrúduithe sa tír seo trédhearcach agus féaráilte.
Students can seek a recheck if they think the marking was too harsh. Bíonn sé de cheart ag daltaí athbhreithniú a lorg má cheapann siad go raibh an mharcáil ródhian.
There is a high standard of teachers in this country. Tá caighdeán ard múinteoirí againn sa tír seo.
High points are required for primary teaching and a master’s degree is needed for secondary teaching. Tá pointí arda ag teastáil chun dul le bunmhúinteoireacht agus tá céim mháistreachta ag teastáil don mheánmhúinteoireacht.
That said, I have to say that I am not happy with the education system of this country. É sin ráite, caithfidh mé a rá nach bhfuilim sásta le córas oideachais na tíre seo.
The points system puts too much pressure on students. Cuireann rás na bpointí an iomarca brú agus strus ar dhaltaí.
Students do not get fair treatment because too much emphasis is placed on grades and exam results. Ní fhaigheann daltaí cothrom na Féinne mar tá an iomarca béime ar ghrádanna agus ar thorthaí scrúdaithe.
It is not right that the students’ life is dependent on one exam. Níl sé ceart go mbeadh saol an dalta ar fad ag brath ar aon scrúdú amháin.
There is too much emphasis on academic subjects and there is not enough emphasis on personal development. Tá róbhéim ar ábhair acadúla agus níl go leor béime ar fhorbairt phearsanta.
I don’t believe that the LC prepares you for working life. Ní chreidim go réitíonn an Ardteistiméireacht thú do shaol na hoibre.
The system does not adequately serve students with special needs. Ní fhreastalaíonn an córas i gceart ar dhaltaí le riachtanais speisialta.
I don’t think there is enough emphasis on exercise and on sport in our schools. Ní dóigh liom go gcuirtear go leor béime ar chleachtadh coirp agus ar spórt i scoileanna.
In my school, we only get one PE class a week, and that is not enough in my view. I mo scoil féin ní fhaighimid ach rang amháin corpoideachais le linn na seachtaine agus ní leor sin dar liom.
The system needs investment. Tá infheistíocht ag teastáil ón gcóras.
The condition of the schools is shameful. Is ábhar náire é coinníollacha na scoileanna.
The classes are crowded, with thirty students stuck in prefab rooms. Bíonn ranganna plódaithe, le triocha dalta sáite isteach i seomraí réamhdéanta.
Little improvement has been made to some primary schools since they were first built, over a hundred years ago. Is beag feabhais atá tagtha ar roinnt bunscoileanna ó tógadh iad breis agus céad bliain ó shin.
It is certain that generations of politicians have neglected the education of this country. Is cinnte go bhfuil faillí déanta ag na glúinte polaiteoirí ar oideachas na tíre seo.
It has been said for a long time that more emphasis is needed on continual assessment. Táthar ag rá le fada gur chóir níos mó béime a chur ar mheasúnú leanúnach.
It was recently announced that the LC will be reformed and that at least 40% of marks will be for projects. Fógraíodh le déanaí go mbeidh athchoiriú ar an ardteist, agus go mbeidh ar a laghadh 40% de na marcanna ag dul ar thionscadail.
The reforms that are ongoing in the system are a step in the right direction, but these changes are only a fraction of what needs to be done. Céim chun tosaigh is ea na leasuithe atá ar bun sa chóras, ach níl sna hathruithe seo ach sop in áit na scuaibe.
Less emphasis should be put on the points system and students should be given a better chance to learn practical skills to prepare them for real life. Ba chóir níos lú béime a chur ar chóras na bpointí agus ba cheart seans níos fearr a thabhairt do dhaltaí scileanna praiticiúla a fhoghlaim chun iad a ullmhú don domhan mór.
