What does a nucleus contain? DNA & Chromosomes
What is the function of a nucleolus? To make ribosomes
What does cellular respiration use to make ATP? Glucose
What is selective permeability? When only somethings can go in and out
Why is selective permeability important? To keep bad/toxic things out that could damage a cell, and to keep useful things inside a cell
What are glycolipids? Sugar lipids; Carbs attached to a lipid bilayer
What are glycoproteins? Sugar proteins; Carbs attached to a protein
What is diffusion? Movement from higher to lower concentration until it reaches equilibrium
What is concentration gradient? The level of concentration and the gradual difference in the concentration of solutes in a solution when there is an unequal distribution of ion across a cell membrane
What is passive transport? Transport that requires no energy
What is osmosis? The diffusion of water through a selectively permeable membrane
What is endocytosis? The process of bringing big things into a cell
What does phagocytosis mean? When a cell has eaten; taken in a large particle
What does pinocytosis mean? When a cell brings in a liquid dissolved with something in the cell
What is genome? All DNA an organism has. 95% in nucleus, 5% in mitochondria
