Cell Cycle

Only the cell cycle without Mitosis

TermDefinition
Growth 1 (G1) 1st growth phase
Synthesis (S=phase) When DNA makes a copy or replicates itself so that each new cell can have a set of DNA
Growth (G2) 2nd growth phase of Interphase
Mitosis (m-phase) Shortest phase of the cell cycle after interphase
Asexual reproduction Cells made with out the act of sex
Cell cycle The cycle that a cell has to go through in order to GRR, Grow, Repair/ Replace existing cells
Diploid Having 2 sets of chromosomes
Somatic cell A body cell that has 2 sets of Chromosomes
G zero (G0) Cell is at rest, meaning it is performing its job but it is not actively dividing
Cancer Uncontrolled cell growth
Tumor Mass of cells that have grown uncontrollably
Interphase Longest phase of the cell cycle which includes g1, S, g2
Cytokinesis Cytoplasm Divides
