Dynamic equilibrium any system with constant change in which components can adjust to the changes without disturbing the entire system
Biosphere Narrow zone around the earth that harbors life
Biotic components Living components of the biosphere
Abiotic components Non living components of the biosphere
Population A group of organisms o the same species that live on the same habitat at the same time
Community All the organisms o various species that share a habitat or ecosystem
Ecosystem A community and it's physical and chemical environment
Biodiversity The number of species in a area
Food chain A sequence linking orgainisms that feed on eachother
Producer An autotroph and organism that makes it's own food
Consumer A heterotroph and organism that must eat other producers or consumers to survive
Indicator species A species sensitive to small changes in the environment
Herbivore An animal that eats only plants
Carnivore An animal that feeds solely on other animals
Omnivore Eats producers and consumers
Detritus Wastes of plants and animals including dead remains
Decomposer An organism that feeds on detritus
Habitat A place or type of environment with conditions suitable for the survival of organisms or a population
Ultraviolet radiation Electromagnetic radian from the sum that can cause burning of the skin and cellular mutations
Ozone An inorganic molecule;a layer of ozone found in the stratosphere that helps screen out UV radiation
