| Muscular System | the group of muscles in your body that work together to enable movement, maintain posture, and circulate blood, |
| Involuntary Muscle | muscles that contract automatically, without conscious thought. They are also known as smooth muscles |
| Voluntary muscle | a muscle that you can consciously control, such as the muscles in your arms and leg |
| Cardiac Muscle | the tissue that makes up the middle layer of the heart wall, and is responsible for pumping blood throughout the body. It's also known as the myocardium |
| Smooth Muscle | n involuntary, non-striated muscle |
| Skeletal Muscle | a type of muscle tissue that is attached to bones, allowing for voluntary movement by contracting and pulling on the bone to create motion |
| Fascia | a thin layer of connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, organs, and other body parts |
| Tendons | fibrous tissues that attach muscles to bones or other structures |
| Origin | the attachment site that connects a muscle to a bone that doesn't move during contraction |
| Insertion | the point where a muscle attaches to a bone that moves when the muscle contracts |
