| Variations | the natural differences observed between individuals of the same species, caused by genetic factors and environmental influences |
| Adaptations | a characteristic or feature of an organism that helps it survive and reproduce better in its environment, usually developed through evolutionary processes over time |
| Natural Selection | a biological process where organisms with traits that better suit their environment are more likely to survive and reproduce, passing on those advantageous traits to their offspring, causing a population to change over time |
| Charles Darwin | a British scientist most recognized for proposing the theory of evolution by natural selection |
| Artificial Selection | the process where humans intentionally choose organisms with specific desirable traits to breed |
