Cadherin proteins Plays a key role in how animal cells attach to one another and the origin of multicellularity in eukaryotes. Animals have developed this feature through rearranging proteins found in choanoflagellates
Apical meristem location on plants which allows for regrowth of lost appendage or the creation of a new plant due to cells ability to divide through a plants life.
Cuticle Layer of airtight wax which prevents plants from mass water loss
Stoma A pore on plants which allows for gas exchange through the opening and closing of guard cells
Alteration of generations The ability for plants to change diploid and haploid phases in its lifetime.
Lignin Polymer in plant cells which provides structural support
Xylem Tissue that conducts and distributes water and minerals in vascular plants
Phloem Tissue that conducts and distributes sugars, amino acids, and other organic products
