Food Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Cherries small, round fruits with a pit in the center, typically red or black when ripe.
Watermelon a large, juicy fruit with a green rind and sweet, red or pink flesh filled with black seeds
Strawberries a small, red, sweet fruits with a distinct shape and tiny seeds on their surface.
Pear a sweet, juicy fruit with a rounded base that tapers to a narrow top, it has smooth, green, yellow, or red skin, depending on the variety.
Tomatoes round, red or yellow fruits that grow on the tomato plant.
Cucumbers long, green, crunchy vegetables that grow on vines.
Carrots root vegetables that are typically orange, though they can also come in purple, red, yellow, or white.
Potatoes starchy tubers that grow underground on the roots of the potato plant, which can be cooked in various ways, such as baking, boiling, frying, or mashing.
Sandwich food item made by placing fillings, such as meat, cheese, vegetables, or spreads, between two slices of bread.
Cheese a dairy product made by curdling milk, typically from cows, goats, or sheep, using bacteria and rennet.
Turkey the meat of the turkey bird, which is commonly cooked and served in various ways, such as roasted, grilled, or fried.
Bacon a type of salt-cured meat typically made from pork belly or back cuts and it is usually sliced thin and cooked by frying, grilling, or baking.
