| Myosin | A protein found in muscle cells that allows muscles to contract and relax |
| Actin | A protein found in muscle cells that allows muscles to contract and relax |
| Phenotype | The way an individual looks for a specific trait or characteristic |
| Pedigree | A graphic organizer that keeps track of the biological relationships of parents and offspring and their variations of a specific trait |
| Sexual reproduction | When an egg cell and a sperm cell combine to develop into an offspring |
| Chromosomes | Physical structures that are passed from parents to offspring in egg and sperm cells |
| Karyotype | An image of the number and visual appearance of the chromosomes in the cells of an organism |
