Why do cells need to divide? Growth, Maintenance, Repair + Reproduction (single-celled organisms)
What is Mitosis? When 1 parent cell creates 2 daughter cells
What are the 3 parts of cell division? Interphase, Mitosis, Cytokinesis
What are the 3 parts of Interphase? G1, S, G2
What are the 3 parts of Mitosis? Interphase, Prophase, Anaphase, Telophase
What is Cytokenisis? The creation of other organelles in the cell
When does Cytokinesis begin? During Telophase
What happens in Prophase? Chromosomes begin to spread out, spindle fibers become visible from poles
What happens in Metaphase? Chromosomes gather at the equator (center) of the cell
What happens in Anaphase? One HALF of EACH chromosome is pulled to a pole of the cell
What happens in Telophase? Two new cells are created, Cytokinesis begins
