AI used to generate responsive, adaptive or intelligent behaviors primarily in non-playable characters (NPCs)
Anime a broad term that describes games and anime that are based on each other or share similar themes, art styles, or aesthetics.
Console an electronic device that displays video games on a television or other display device
Cut scene a non-interactive sequence that interrupts gameplay to show part of the game's story.
ESA a trade association that advocates for the video game industry in the United States
ESRB rating a system that assigns age-appropriate ratings to video games.
First (frame per second) a measurement of how many images are displayed on a screen in a single second
Pixels the tiny squares of light that make up the images and graphics in a video game.
Platform a combination of hardware and software that allows a video game to run
Realm a game world that's separate from other game worlds, with its own players and gameplay
Sprites a two-dimensional image that represents a character, object, or effect in a game.
game screens the display that shows the images and graphics of a video game
Genre an informal classification of a video game based on how it is played
Gone Gold when a game is ready to be published and distributed to gamers
Grind the act of repeating tasks to earn rewards
Janky a slang term used to describe video games that have unconventional or flawed mechanics, or that are glitchy or buggy
Level a space where a player completes a specific objective or challenge
Loot a collection of items that players can find or earn to improve their character's abilities

Quest a task that a player completes to earn a reward
RPG a video game where players control a character in a fictional world, and the player's actions impact the character and the story
Top-down a camera angle that shows the game from above, as if the player is looking down
