Terms that are helpful to understand when discussing philosophy and science.

TermDefinition
Theism Belief in a god that created the universe.
Naturalism The belief that the universe operates only on natural laws and forces. Supernatural explanations are rejected.
Science The systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical world through observation, experimentation.
Evolution The change of genetic frequency in a population over generations.
Gene A piece of DNA that codes for something the cell will make.
Allele An alternate form of a gene (brown hair/blond hair).
Tree of Life The idea that all organisms on earth came from one common ancestor, the first organism.
Lawn of Life The idea that God created the common ancestor to families of organisms, and species we have today descended from that one.
Worldview A particular philosophy of life or conception of the world.
