QuestionAnswer
Allele the different forms of a gene; could be dominant or recessive
Phenotype An organism's physical appearance
Genotype Letters that represent two alleles of a gene
Dominant An allele that is always expressed
Recessive An allele that is hidden when a dominant allele is present; Need two LOWERCASE letters to be expressed
Homozygous Having two identical alleles for a gene/trait
Heterozygous Having two different alleles for a gene/trait
Homozygous dominant Both alleles for a trait are the same and dominant
Homozygous recessive Both alleles for a trait are the same and recessive
Incomplete dominance One allele is not completely dominant over another allele. Resulting offspring have a phenotype that is a blending of the parental traits.
Codominance Both alleles for a gene are fully expressed
