Photosynthesis

TermDefinition
Photosynthesis Plants use the sun's energy to convert water and carbon dioxide into sugars.
Chloroplast An organelle found in cells of plants and some other organisms that captures the energy from sunlight and converts it into chemical energy.
ATP (adenosine triphosphate) The main energy source that cells use for most of their work.
Autotrophs Organisms that are able to make their own food.
Heterotroph An organism that obtains energy from the foods it consumes; also called a consumer.
Photosynthesis Equation 6C02 + 6H20 + light energy —> C6H12O6 + 6O2
Three Reactants of Photosynthesis Sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water.
