| Ligaments | Bands of connective tissue that hold a skeleton together. |
| Muscular System | The body system that functions with the skeletal system to allow the body to move. |
| Voluntary Muscles | A muscle that moves the bones and holds your skeleton upright. |
| Smooth Muscles | A muscle that contracts slowly and moves substances through the organs they surround. |
| Cardiac Muscles | The muscles that make up the walls of the heart. |
| Nervous System | The body system that allows you to experience things and to react to your environment. |
| Central Nervous System | The part of the nervous system that is made up of the brain and spinal cord. |
| Peripheral Nervous System | The part of the nervous system that consist of the sensory organs, such as the eyes and ears, and the body nerves. |
| Neuron | A specialized cell that can receive signals and transmit them to other neurons. |
| Nerves | A cord like bundles of fibers made up of neurons through which the signal travels between the brain or other parts of the central nervous system and the eyes, glands, muscles, and other parts of the body. |

| Receptors | A nerve cell that detects conditions in the body's environment. |
| Reflexes | A muscle action that is an automatic response to a situation, such as putting your hands out to stop a fall. |
