What does selectively permeable mean? Allows certain substances to pass through while blocking others
what type of transport requires energy? Active transport
what type doesn't require energy? Passive transport
3 types of passive transport? simple diffusion facilitated diffusion osmosis
what crosses the plasma membrane in osmosis? Water (solvent)
what is hypotonic solution? has a lower solute concentration than the inside of the cell, causing water to move into the cell
what is endocytosis solution? Transporting particles into the cell
what is hypertonic solution? has a higher solute concentration than inside the cell, causing water to move out of the cell
what is exocytosis? transporting particles out of the cell
what is transcytosis? transporting particles into, across, and then out of the cell.
