Autotroph An organism that synthesizes complex organic compounds from simple inorganic raw materials; also called a producer.

Redox Reaction the chemical reaction in which one or more electrons are transferred from one substance (the substance that becomes oxidized) to another substance (the substance that becomes reduced).

Calvin Cycle (Carbon Fixation Cycle) Cyclic series of reactions in the chrloroplast stroma in photosynthesis, fixes carbon dioxide and produces carbohydrates.
