Cell Organelles

QuestionAnswer
Nucleus Contains the cells DNA and controls all functions of the cell - aka the brain of the cell. Found in animal and plant cells.
Cell Membrane Provides some protection for the cell. Allows small molecules to pass in and out of the cell - semi permeable. Found in animal and plant cells.
Cytoplasm A gel-like substance that allows movement of nutrients and wastes throughout the cell. Holds the organelles in place. Found in animal and plant cells.
Chloroplasts Found in plant cells. Filled with the pigment chlorophyll. Where photosynthesis takes place.
Cell Wall Found in plant cells. A tough outer shell that surrounds the cell giving strength and protection.
Vacuole A membrane surrounded organelle where water is stored. Found in animal and plant cells.
Mitochondria Where cellular respiration happens to produce energy/ATP.
