Disinfection is: the use of physcial process or chemical agent to destroy vegetative but NOT endospores on non-living surfaces.
Sepsis microorganisms in the blood and tissues.
Sanitization is: any cleansing technique that removes debris, microorganisms, and toxins. Reduces potential for infection and spoilage.
Degermination process of reducing the microbial load on living tissue. Mechanical means.
Antimicrobial agents progressively inflict damage until a cell is no longer viable.
Cold treatment slows the growth but does not kill.
Air drying can kill microbes but many cells can survive.
Radiation energy emitted from atomic activities and dispersed at high velocity through matter.
Filtration effective method for the removal of microbes. Sterilization in air and liquid.
Filtration non-cellular agents may survive this treatment. such as Viruses, toxins
Destroy or Inhibit microbial cells Extreme pH
can cause microbial death acids and alkalis
