What are lipids? a macromolecule that does not readily dissolve in water because they are non-polar

Fats solid at room temperature
Oils liquid at room temperature, zigzag chains take up bigger space = liquid
fats and oils are made up of _ glycerol, and 3 fatty acids
mono unsaturated just one glycerol
poly unsaturated 3 and more bonds of glycerol
phospholipid important in the structure of cell membranes
what is a phospholipid made of? phosphate, glycerol, 2 fatty acids
the head of phospholipid is _ polar (hydrophilic), in water
the tail of phospholipid is _ non-polar (hydrophobic), not in water
steroids hormones, examples: hormones made from cholesterol
