| Term | Definition |

| Unicellular | Organism that consists of a single cell. Example: bacteria. |
| Multicellular | Means a tissue, organ or organism that is made up of many cells. Examples: Animals Plants Fungi. |
| Bacteria | Bacteria are prokaryotic cells and unicellular organisms. |
| Prokaryotic cell | Is a cell with no nucleus or other membrane - bound organelles. DNA is in the cytoplasm. An example are bacteria. |
| Eukaryotic cell | Is a cell with nucleus and different membrane-bound organelles. DNA is the nucleus. Eukaryotic cells can be unicellular and multicellular. Examples: animal and plant cells. |
| Membrane-bound organelle | Are specialized structures with specific function inside the cell. Example: nucleus, mitochondria or endoplasmic reticulum. |
