How do Punnett Squares and Pedigrees Model Venetic variation?

QuestionAnswer
Punnett Square A modeling tool for determining the expected ratios of different genotypes in the offspring of two parents. Represented by a big square with 4 smaller squares. The results give a probability of certain phenotype outcomes.
Pedigree chart An illustrated model that shows the inheritance of a trait over several generations that is commonly created for families, for it outlines the inheritance patterns of genetic disorders and traits.
Genotype Allele makeup of your traits similar to a set of instructions in cells that determine how a trait is expressed (what an organism looks like). These alleles are passed from parent to offspring through genes located on chromosomes of parental DNA.
Phenotype Expression of traits based upon the makeup of the alleles of an organism. Examples include hair color, type of fur, tall, short etc. m
