Monohybrid Crosses
| Term | Definition |

| Self-Pollination | process by which a plant uses the pollen and eggs from itself to create new offspring |
| Pollination | the transfer of the pollen from a male plant part (anther) to the eggs of a female plant (stigma) |
| Law of Dominance | when common traits occur more than others within an organism |
| Law of Segregation | the separation of traits (alleles) when egg cells and sperm are formed through meiosis |
| Law of Independent Assortment | traits transferred in random fashion during the formation of egg and sperm |
| Monohybrid cross | a genetic cross made to examine the distribution of one specific set of alleles in the resulting offspring |
| Homologous Chromosomes | a pair of matching chromosomes, with one being inherited from each parent |
