Transcription/Translation
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Protein | consisting of a sequence of amino acids linked together, they are coded by genes within DNA, they are needed within an organism to grow, repair, and to create enzymes within an organism |
| RNA | single-stranded nucleic acid that contains the sugar called ribose, contain the bases A, U, C, G |
| Transcription | process in which part of the gene sequence of DNA is copied into a complementary sequence of RNA |
| Translation | process that occurs within a ribosome in which a mRNA message is decoded into a protein |
| RNA Polymerase | enzyme that binds to DNA and separates the DNA strands during transcription |
| mRNA | RNA molecule that carries copies of instructions for the assembly of amino acids into proteins from DNA to the rest of the cell |
| tRNA | type of RNA molecule that transfers amino acids to ribosomes during protein synthesis |
| Codon | Anticodon |
