Cell Parts and Functions

Golgi apparatus This organelle packages cell products such as proteins and lipids into vesicles that are then sent to other parts off the cell or out of the cell.
Nucleus The command center of the cell; contains the DNA in eukaryotic cells.
Central Vacoule Plant cells have this storage area for water.
Ribosomes The site of protein synthesis
Mitochondria Know as the"power house" of the eukaryotic cells because most of the ATP is made there.
Rough ER Internal membrane studded with ribosomes that carry out protein syntheis
Lysosome Vesicle that breaks down macromolecules and digests worn out cell components.
Smooth ER System of internal membranes that aids in the manufacture of carbohydrates and lipids.
Cytoskeleton Supports organelle and cell shape and plays a role in cell motion.
Plasma Membrane Lipids bilayer in which proteins are embedded.
