Part C
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Interphase | the cell is growing & devloping |
| syntehtsis phase | the chromosomes replicat ein the cucleus x 2 chromosomes |
| growth phase | cell is growing and developing its organelles |
| prophase | centrioles move to opposite poles - nucelsu evelope dissapears - chromosomes coil up into visible structures |
| metaphase | spindle fibres attach onto the chromosome and liene them up in the middle - spindle fibres attach on the the centriomeres |
| anaphase | - spindle fibres retract and pull 1/2 the chrromosomes towards each centriole |
| telophase | spindle fibres areback in the centrioles - nuclear enveliopes starts to form back around both sets of chromosomes - chromosomes uncoilt o become chromatin |
| cell checkpoints | cell checkpoint - not enough nutrients to grow |
| cytokinesis | cell membranes, pinches off in the middle & separates into 2 daughter cells |
| apoptosis | cells die when it is too old to function |
| cancer cells | - can undergo mitosis an ulmimited number of times |
| tumor | cells that clump together due to an uncontrollable urge to divide |
