PART C: Mitosis

QuestionAnswer
What is prophase? centrioles move opposite poles, nuclear envelope disappear, chromosomes coil into visible structure.
What is metaphase? spindle fibres attach on the chromosomes, and line them up in the middle.
what is anaphase? spindle fibre retract and pull 1/2 of the chromosomes towards each centriole.
what is telophase? spindle fibres are pack in the centrioles, nuclear envelopes star to form back around both set of chromosomes.
what is mitosis? the life of a cell, the cell is either growing and developing or diving into 2 daughter cells.
what are cell check points? there are 3 main checkpoints on the cell cycle where protein determine whether the cell should divide or not.
what is cytokinesis? cell membranes priones off in the middle and separate into 2 daughter cells.
What is apoptosis? cells dire when its too old to function.
what are cancer cells? can undergo mitosis an unlimited numbers of times.
what is tumor? cells that clump together due to uncontrollable urge to divide.
What is growth phase? 1st growth phase, cell is growing and developing its organelle.
What is synthesis phase? The chromosomes replicate in the nucleus. 2x chromosomes
