Diffusion Movement of molecules from areas of high concentration to low concentration.
Osmosis The movement of water molecules from a solution with high concentration to one with a lower concentration. **
Permeable Allows any molecules to diffuse across membrane. Ex. Cell Membrane
Semi-permeable Allows certain molecules to diffuse across membrane. Ex. Skin
Non-permeable Allows no molecules to diffuse across membrane. Ex. Cell Wall
Nucleus Controls all activities of the cell like growth and reproduction. (Both)
Cell Membrane Made up of two phospholipid layers, it allows for certain molecules to go in or out of the cell. (Both)
Cell Wall Supports and protects the cell; does not allow molecules in or out. (Plant)
Chromosomes Protiens that contact DNA which had coded information for making molecules. (Both)
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum Produces and stores protien. (Both)
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum Produces and stores fat and oil. (Both)
Golgi Bodies Modifies and packages proteins. (Both)
Ribosomes Helps Rough ER make proteins and is attached to the RER. (Both)
Centrioles Helps with cell division (mitosis). (Animal)
Mitochondria Converts sugar into energy for the cell. (Both)
Cytoplasm Fluid in the cell; allows organelles to move around. (Both)
Lysosomes Breaks down; food, including bacteria, and old/damaged organelles. (Animal)
Chloroplasts Uses sunlight to make its own food. (Plants)
