Evolution The study of the formation, development, and structure of early stages of unborn development.
Common ancestor The idea that all organisms shared this one connection to an organism of the past.
Paleontology The study of extinct organisms, especially through the study of fossils.
Fossils Any remains, impression, or trace of an organism from the past.
Embryology The study of the formation, development, and structure of early stages of unborn development.
Anatomy The study of the structure of plants and animals.
Genetics The study of heredity and variation in organisms.
Homologous Structure Structures that are similar but appear in different organisms and have different functions.
Analogous Structure Structures that have the same or similar function, but have evolved separately.
Vestigial Structure Structures that have lost all or most of their original function, but are thought to have a purpose in an early ancestor.
