| heterozygous | alleles are different (one capital; one lowercase) |

| gene | a specific sequence of nucleotides that codes for a protein |
| polygenic trait | trait that is determined by many genes |

| incomplete dominance | shows the intermediate form of a trait |
| codominance | both alleles are being expressed |

| sex-linked traits | traits that are linked on the X-chromsome |
