Cerebrum | movement, temperature, touch, vision, hearing, judgment, reasoning, problem solving, emotions, and learning. |
Frontal Lobe | Motor cortex, movement, problem solving, reasoning, Happiness, long-term memory, speech |
Parietal Lobe | taste, sensory cortex, body sensations, such as touch, temperature, and pain |
Occipital Lobe | vision |
Temporal Lobe | hearing |
Insula | taste, visceral sensation and autonomic control |
Cerebellum | coordination of voluntary movement, posture and balance |
Limbic System | emotion, memory and learning |
Thalamus | sensory relay center, memory and emotions |
Hypothalamus | homeostasis, hunger, sleep, thirst, body temperature, water balance; regulates hormonal output of the pituitary |
Medulla Oblongata | reflex center for vomiting, coughing, sneezing, hiccupping, and swallowing; regulation of heart rate |
Pons | breathing rate; relay from cerebrum to cerebellum |
Midbrain | reflex centers for visual auditory and tactile responses |
Pineal Gland | regulates daily rhythms |
Reticular Formation | muscle tone, assist in respiration, heart rate, and blood pressure, wakes a sleeping person |
