Parasite an organism that benefits by living with, on, or in a host in a parasitism interaction
Tissue a group of similar cells that perform a specific function
Vascular Plants a plant that has a true vascular tissue for transporting materials
Nonvascular Plants a low-growing plant that lacks true vascular tissue for transporting materials
Vertebrate and animal with a backbone
Invertebrate an animal without a backbone
Organ a body structure that is composed of different kinds of tissues that work together
Microorganism very small microscopic organisms
Mammal a vertebrate whose body temperature is regulated by its internal heat, and that has skin covered with hair or fur and glands that produce milk to feed its young
Branching Tree Diagram/ Phylogenetic Tree a diagram that shows probable evolutionary relationships among organisms and the order in which specific characteristics may have evolved
Shared Derived Characteristic a characteristic or trait, such as fur, that the common ancestor of a group had and passed on to its descendants
Symmetry an arrangement with balanced or harmonious proportions
Dichotomous Key a series of statements with two choices in each step that will lead to identifying an organism
