what is the purpose of carbohydrates? fuel sorce, building blocks of life
what are the elements that make up carbohydrates, does it have a ratio? CHO: carbon, hydrogen, oxygen yes it does, c1h2o1
what do carbohydrates end in? "ose"
what is the purpose of lipids? to store energy and make up cell membrane
what do lipids hate? water, they are hydrophobic
what do lipids include? fats, waxes, oils, cells, and membrane
what elements make up lipids, does it have a ratio? CHO: carbon, hydrogen, oxygen it does not have a ratio
what are the three main groups of lipids? fats, phospholipids, and steroids
what are proteins made out of? amino acids held together by peptide bonds
what elements make up proteins, does it have a ratio? CHON: carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen
what is the purpose of proteins? help your body repair cells and make new ones
what elements make up nucleic acids, does it have a ratio? CHONP: carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus it does not have a ratio
what do nucleic acids make up? DNA and RNA
what do DNA and RNA make? proteins
what do enzymes do? speed up a chemical reaction
what is a active site? the part of the enzyme that binds to the substrate
what is a substrate? the molecule that an enzyme acts on
what do enzymes end in? "ase"
what is the purpose of nucleic acids? to carry genetic information
