| Pseudopod | a temporary, rootlike extension of a cell, used for locomotion or engulfing food |
| Protozoans | heterotrophic, animal-like protists |
| Fungus-like peoriara | heterotrophic decomposers who mostly feed on decaying organic matter |
| Algae | autotrophic plant-like protists which make their own food by photosynthesis |
| Phagocytosis | the endoscopic process by which a cell engulfs large, solid particles or cells |
| Contractile vacuole | control pressure in the cell by collecting and removing excess water |
| Zooflagellates | protozoans who move by means of one or more flagella |
| Ciliate | protozoan that use cilia to move |
| Spore | a reproductive cell with a hard, protective coating |
| Sporozoan | protozoan with no real means of locomotion |

| Fungus-like protists | heterotrophs that absorb nutrients from dead, decaying organisms. |
