Cell The basic unit of life.
Circulatory system The many organs that work together to help move blood throughout the body. Example organs include the heart and blood vessels.
Digestive system The many organs that work together to break down food and absorb nutrients. Example organs include the stomach and intestines.
Endocrine system The many organs that work together to create hormones. Examples include the pituatary gland and the thyroid gland.
Hormone A chemical that helps tell organs and the body what to do. Examples include insulin and adreneline.
Integumentary system The organs that work together to help protect the outside part of the body. An example organ includes the skin.
Nervous system The many organs that work together to send messages throughout the body. Example organs include the brain and nerves.
Organ system A group of similar organs that work together to perform a specific function.
Organ A structure made of different tissues that work together to perform a specific function.
Organism A living thing made of one or more cells.
Respiratory System The many organs that work together that allow you to breathe. Example organs include the lungs and trachea.
Skeletal system The many organs that work together to help give the body structure and support. An example organ includes the bones.
Tissue A group of similar cells that work together to perform a specific function.
