Transmission chains

Disease transmission - pathogen leaves host resevoir and moves to another through a mode of transmission ie. airbourne, contact, vector etc
What are resevoirs? - where a pathogen normally occurs - they can be animal (including human) or environmental (e.g. the soil) - not always symptomatic
What is the portal of exit? - route by which a pathogen escapes - usually go via route they typically infect ie. respiratory pathogens are airbourne - exception is faecal-oral route
