Revolutionary War

TermDefinition
Declaration of independence A document written by representatives of the colonies.
parliament The form of government within great Britain.
French and Indian war The war fought between great Britain and france between 1754 and 1763
Patriot An individual who supports the colonists cause
Quartering act An act which forced colonists to provide refuge and supplies fro Britain
Loyalist An individual loyal to the king of England
Sugar act A tax placed on all goods not from Britian including sugar, molasses, act...
Militia A civilian army.
Stamp act A tax placed on printed items.
Minute men The name given to soldiers of militia that can be ready in minuets.
Tea act An act which allowed the east Indian company to bypass Britian and travel to the colonies.
propaganda The spreading of false information.
Intolerable Acts Also known as the coercive acts, they were used to punish colonists following the Boston tea party.
Articles of Confederation The document created after the declaration of independence .
