Compound Microscope

TermDefinition
Diaphram Located under the stage, controls the amount of light passing through the specimen.
Field of view The area visible or circle that you see through the microscope.
Fine adjustment knob Used to focus or sharpen the image. Should be only used with high-power magnification.
Coarse adjustment knob Used to focus or sharpen the image. Should be only used with low-power magnification.
Viewing an image through a compound light microscope The image will be upside-down and backwards.
Total magnification ocular lens X objective lens = Total magnification
Microscope stage Holds the specimen and slide.
Stage clips Holds the specimen and slide in place
