Compound Microscope
| Term | Definition |

| Diaphram | Located under the stage, controls the amount of light passing through the specimen. |
| Field of view | The area visible or circle that you see through the microscope. |
| Fine adjustment knob | Used to focus or sharpen the image. Should be only used with high-power magnification. |
| Coarse adjustment knob | Used to focus or sharpen the image. Should be only used with low-power magnification. |
| Viewing an image through a compound light microscope | The image will be upside-down and backwards. |
| Total magnification | ocular lens X objective lens = Total magnification |
| Microscope stage | Holds the specimen and slide. |
| Stage clips | Holds the specimen and slide in place |
