The Cell

QuestionAnswer
Nuclear Membrane(envelope) controls transport into and out of the nucleus
Nuclear pores regulate what enters and exits the nucleus
Contracticle vacuole pump excess water out of organisms
Order the structures of organized life from smallest to largest organelle, cell, tissue, organ, organ system, whole orgainsim.
Prokaryotic cell no nucleus, DNA is in cytoplasm, no mebrane covered organelles
Eukaryotic cell have a nucleus and have membrane covered organelles, all other kingdoms(Protista, Fungi, Plants, Animals)
Rough ER had ribosomes
Cellular Membrane regulates what enters or exits the cell
Cell Wall only in plants, supports and protects
Ribosomes composed of RNA and protein, site of protein synthesis
Centrioles fomr spindals in cell division and only found in animal cells
Nucleus controls ,ost cell proccesses, contains DNA
Cytoplasm fluid-like material that contains the organelles where many biochemical processes occur
Vacuole -store water, dissolved minerals & wastes -size depends on wateravailibilty, so if wilting it is low on water
Cytoskeleton network of filaments in cytoplasm
Nucleolus makes ribosomes
Lysosomes contain digestive enzymes for food and help destroy old cells in multicellular organisms
ER synthesizes, stores, & transports materials throughoutthe cell
Mitochondria -cellular respiration occurs here -converting chemical energy from food into energy or ATP the cell can use
Golgi Body packages proteins
Smooth ER does not contain ribosomes
Chloroplasts perform photosynthesis, contain chlorophyll, only in plant cells

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.

To see how well you know the information, try the Quiz or Test activity.
