Nonvascular plant Plants that lack vascular tissue for transporting materials
Vascular Plant A plant with true vascular tissue
Rhizoid A thin, rootlike structure that anchors moss and absorbs water and nutrients
Phloem The vascular tissue through which food moves
Xylem The vascular tissue through which water and minerals move
Pollen Tiny structures that contain the cells that will later become sperm cells
Seed A structure that contains a young plant inside a protective covering
Gymnosperm A seed plant that produces naked seeds
Angiosperm A flowering plant
How are plants classified? They are classified as either vascular plants or nonvascular plants.
The Difference between Phloem and Xylem Food moves through the phloem, but water and minerals move through the xylem.
