| What is the cause of achilles tendonitis? | cumulative stress on achilles tendon resulting in inflammation |

| What causes ankylosis? | chronic joint inflammation (rheumatoid arthritis) |
| What is antalgic gait? | shortened gait with as little weight bearing as possible on affected side |
| What causes antalgic gait? | pain or discomfort in the lower extremity on weight bearing; can be related to trauma or other disorders |
| What is an ataxic gait? | staggering, uncoordinated gait often with sway |
| What causes an ataxic gait? | neurogenic disorders (spinal cord lesion) |
| What is atrophy? | flabby appearance of muscle leading to decreased function and tone |
| What causes atrophy? | muscle denervation, contracture, prolonged disuse as result of immobilization |
| What is Boutonniere deformity? | Finger abnormality, flexion of proximal interphalangeal joint and hyperextension of the distal interphalangeal joint of the fingers |
