Infectious Disease Vocab

TermDefinition
cells basic units of living things
bacteria single cellular organisms that can be seen with a microscope
antibiotics medicine designed to kill bacteria by stopping them from building a cell wall
normal range the set of health measurements that a person usually has.
homeostasis the body’s process of maintaining a normal range for various factors such as temperature, white blood cell count, or water levels.
immune response the coordinated response of these different structures in our body to defend against a threat.
virus a pathogen that is too small to see with a microscope and needs a host to survive
