Osteo relating to the bones.
Long bone All of the bones in the arms and legs, except the patella, and bones of the wrist, and ankle, are long bones.
Short bones In the hands and feet
irregular bone spine
diaphysis main or midsection (shaft) of a long bone
Epiphysis The epiphysis lies between the growth plate (physis) and the joint at the end of the bone
Epiphyseal Line n the metaphysis at the ends of each long bone.
Metaphysis The metaphysis is the region where the epiphysis joins the diaphysis
Medullary Cavity long bones
Yellow Bone Marrow long bones
Periosteum in all bones
Articular Cartilage found in the ends of the bones
Trabeculae at the ends of long bones and in the pelvis, ribs, skull, and vertebrae
Red Bone Marrow Red marrow is found mainly in the flat bones, such as the hip bone, sternum (breast) bone, skull, ribs, vertebrae, and shoulder blades,
Osteon found in compact bones(vertebraes)
Haversian Canal found in compact bones(vertebraes)
Osteocyte In bone matrix, a bone cell, formed when an osteoblast becomes embedded in the matrix it has secreted.
Osteoblast the cells that degrade (resorb) bone during normal bone remodeling and in pathologic states in which bone resorption is increased.
Canaliculi a canaliculus is a small passageway. Examples include: Two functionally different structures in bone: Bone canaliculus, a small channel found in ossified bone for nutrition for example in the Haversian canal
Lamellae a thin plate, scale, membrane, or layer, as of bone, tissue, or cell walls.
Endosteum is a thin vascular membrane of connective tissue that lines the inner surface of the bony tissue that forms the medullary cavity of long bones.
Lacuna a hollowed-out place or a cavity within a bone.
Blood Vessels the channels or conduits through which blood is distributed to body tissues.
Arterioles small blood vessels that carry blood away from your heart
Venules a very small vein, especially one collecting blood from the capillaries.
